Will we ever trust

Sportsmen again ..

After the latest Floyd Landis scandal, it is difficuilt to not look upon any superhuman achievement in sport with suspicion. Whether he gets implicated or not and the title is stripped off him, it is a very dark day in the history of sport.

But seriously, gaining 8 mins through that stage is unheard of. And he was supposedly carrying a hip injury. Well with a huge scandal in the MLB looming with the Barry Bonds /FBI issue , i see nothing but trouble ahead.

Why, on earth would these people not understand they are letting down millions of fans when they do this. I guess the final nail in the coffin (God forbid ) would be the news that Roger Federer uses a secret substance that enables him to play faultless tennis, that was passed across generations Laver->Borg->Sampras->Federer. May be these so called 'cliques' a-la "Priory of Sion" do exist.

A very disappointed sport-lover signing off.

Back..

after a while. been extremely busy during this period, traveling a bit, working a lot and hunting like crazy for a place to live come August 1.

the new york real estate market is not a particularly pleasant entity to involve oneself in, whether for buying or renting.

Shall write regularly henceforth,

And ...I have some new pics up on my flickr account.

Numbers, numbers and numbers

Two weeks into the world Cup, there's a sense of anticipation all over. The 16 will be decided in a couple of days and the world cup has had only one major surprise so far-> Ghana beating the Czech republic and ultimately qualifying for the round of sixteen. In my opinion there will be no more major upsets until the round of 16. France will make the round of sixteen.

Watching the soccer on ESPN/ABC has been a real disappointment. The americans dont seem to understand that soccer is a game in which there is importance attached to one statistic and one statistic only -> goals. Thats it. If its baseball, stats about ERA's, RBI's, SB's,AB's are thrown at your face all the time. Same with the basketball the NBA coverage is so meticulousy filled with numbers about FT %, FG%, PPG, RPG. Thats acceptable, I sometimes do want to see those numbers while watching baseball or basketball. But not when i am watching a soccer game. Soccer is all about the fluidity, and the only numbers we need to see on screen is the scoreline. Maybe an occasional stat or two is ok. What i dont want to see is the "last time Wayne Rooney scored as a substitute for England between the 70th and 80th minute" . Thats just rubbish. These guys think they can break the game down completely with numbers and they are leaving a lot of fans unhappy.

But since i have no choice, i have to watch it on either of these two channels. maybe some-one will come with a stat-blocker plugin for cable TV content soon.

May England win.

GM diet

Post graduation, having gained a few pounds from all the partying i decided to give the GM diet a shot at reducing weight. And though i still have not checked my weight post-diet, i can see and feel a significant difference in the way my clothes fit.

Having tried out this interesting routine, i recommend it to anyone who wants to shed a few pounds in a hurry. Its easy and you feel good at the end of the one week that its supposed to last.

Some days in the diet are tough, especially the day when you are supposed to eat only bananas and milk, but over-all its not a particularly tough diet to follow. You get a nice 'thoroughly cleansed' feeling at the end of it all.

But it helps if you do have friends following it with you and you can motivate each other, even if its through the phone. In my case i had satya and bun for help.
